Sculpture - marble sculpture project - 2002 thru 2005 The following is a selection of photographs
of a commisioned sculpture project I did for an art patron (Tom
Lawler) in Colorado. I began working on it June of 2002, and completed
it October 2005. I carved it from two solid blocks of marble that
weighed about 10,000 lbs total before carving, and ended up at
about 6,500 lbs. in final form. It stands about 55 inches tall.
Its design was inspired by one of my favorite artists, Henry Moore
(whom I was lucky enough to meet in 1976), and the name came from
my studies of the ideas of Carl Jung.
Tom, the afformentioned patron, and a really great guy. Thanks
Tom for making it possible!
Me, just after installation - Nov 2005
The stones, just after I started.
Me, about halfway through the project.
The sculpture, just prior to installation.
The beginning of installation.
I was terrified the straps would break and damage or destroy the
sculpture.
Fortunately, Tom knew exactly what he was doing, and everything
went smoothly.
